DECLUTTER PROJECTS FOR EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR
Decluttering your home can be daunting if you’re new to the idea or have a lot of stuff. Break it down into simple, easy steps with these declutter projects for every month of the year.
THE BENEFITS OF DECLUTTERING
Your home is where you and your family want to relax and recharge. The last thing you want is a home that’s difficult to run and requires your time and energy to look after it, often when you feel like it least.
Clearing the clutter and creating space has some wonderful benefits:
- Clearing your home space will create a more peaceful environment. Your mind will calm and you’ll feel less overwhelmed. The research backs it up that less clutter=less stress.
- There’ll be less to clean, less to tidy, so you can spend your time doing other things without worrying about what state your home will be in by the end of the day!

However, if you have a lot of stuff, don’t have time to declutter, insufficient energy or motivation, decluttering can be difficult. If this strikes a chord with you, perhaps this post can help make clearing your clutter a little easier!
HOW TO START DECLUTTERING
Decluttering can take practice. In this post I’m sharing some easy monthly projects to help you get started.

There are even a few simple things you can do before you start decluttering to make the whole process a little easier and less stressful.
BUILD UP A DECLUTTERING HABIT
One of the ways to tackle clutter in our lives is by breaking it down into small projects that we can do often. This raises our awareness of clutter but it also encourages decluttering to become a habit – an activity that we repeat without really thinking about it. It’s a bit like knowing we have to brush our teeth every day and doing it on autopilot.
These declutter projects for every month of the year will help create a decluttering habit for you so that clearing clutter doesn’t seem a mammoth task. It will hopefully just become another positive habit for your every day!
BUILD CONFIDENCE IN DECLUTTERING
Once you’ve worked out how and where to start decluttering (perhaps using the projects I’ve suggested for each month) and you’re in the habit of decluttering, the next step will be to build your decluttering confidence.
Decluttering is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it will become.
You’ll become familiar with the questions to ask yourself, the process of sifting and sorting and of letting go to get rid of your stuff and what to do with the stuff you don’t want to keep.
I hope the monthly declutter projects are fun, but I also hope they help you start to declutter, help it to become a habit and something that you can feel confident in going forwards!
