Ready to create your best summer without it being another thing to overthink or add to your To Do list? Try this gentle, mindful approach instead. Here are 30 June journal prompts to reflect, reset and simplify for summer.
WHY TRY JUNE JOURNALING?
As the days grow longer and life starts to slow into summer, June is the perfect time to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself. Whether you’re feeling a little burnt out, craving more clarity, or simply want to be more present this season, journaling is a gentle way to check in and realign.
When life is busy and our brains are on overdrive, I know that finding time to sit down with pen and paperwork can feel like just another thing for our To Do list or a luxury that we don’t have time or energy to afford.
This is precisely the time when journaling can play such an important and USEFUL role. Getting your thoughts down on paper can help you see, understand and explore WHY you feel like you do – and what you might need to change.
I have a whole section of my website on journaling which you can find here in my journaling articles.

A FEW PERSONAL FAVOURITES
I’ve found prompt #1 — “How do I want this summer to feel?” — quite revealing. It helped me realise I was chasing productivity instead of presence. Since then, I’ve started leaving my phone inside when I take my tea into the garden each morning. Just that small shift has helped me start the day more mindfully.
Another favourite is #20 — “Where in my life do I feel cluttered?” This changes through the seasons but I love to compare my answers now with my answers previously. It helps me notice particularly when busyness has crept up on me (which it has a habit of doing!). I can then take stock and postpone or say no to a few things.
HOW TO USE THESE PROMPTS
Pick one prompt per day throughout June.
Or choose 2–3 to sit with at the start of each week.
Don’t overthink it—just write what comes to mind, even if it feels messy. There’s no place for perfection in much life and your journal is certainly not the place!
Come back to your favourites as the month goes on.
There’s no right or wrong—just gentle reflection.
JUNE JOURNALING FAQ
1. What should I write in my journal in June?
June is a natural midpoint in the year, so it’s a lovely time to reflect on what’s been working, what hasn’t, and how you want the next few months to feel. Think seasonal shifts, simplifying, goal-setting (these goal-setting articles can help with that), and checking in with yourself.
2. What if I miss a day?
That’s completely fine. These prompts aren’t a chore—they’re here to support you, not pressure you. Just pick up where you left off or choose one that speaks to you in the moment.
3. Do I need a special journal to start?
Not at all. A notebook, scrap of paper or even a notes app will do. The key is making a little space in your day to write honestly and gently.
4. How long should I write for?
Even 5–10 minutes can make a difference. If you’ve only got a few minutes while the kettle boils, that’s enough. Focus on quality of thought, not quantity of words.
5. Can journaling really help me feel more intentional?
Yes—especially when done regularly. Journaling helps you notice patterns, clarify your thoughts, and become more aware of what you need. Over time, this creates more intentional choices and calmer days.
